7 mo bear pics

The girls had their pediatrician appointments on Thursday and thanks to daddy and our nurse everything went okay without mommy. I did ask alot of questions and made a few calls during their appointment. Jordan weighed in at 13 lb 7 oz and was 24 inches long. The doctor was surprised that she is gaining weight because she is only eating four more ounces a day than when she came home. She is now 24 inches and he was very pleased with her growth. He wanted us to start her on cereal and some other baby foods. I called Tiny K to see what their thoughts were on this and they want us to wait until she is at least 4 1/2 months adjusted or we might even wait until she is 6 months adjusted. Preemies have alot of problems with food allergies so we need to be careful before we introduce these foods. Our little Miss Rylee was called a fatty and he doesn't want us to increase her feedings for a month. She is growing a little too much. We need her to grow length wise so she doesn't fill out too much. This is kinda crazy to hear that our 1 lb 12 oz baby is growing too fast. She weighed in at 12 lb 14 oz and was 23 inches long. She is still projectile vomiting a few times a day and it has me pretty worried. We are trying to run her feedings over an hour to see if it will help and so far it isn't helping any. She is still not really wanting her bottles, but will at least put the nipple in her mouth. Tiny K will be here on Tuesday so maybe they will have some ideas to get her more interested. I think she gets frustrated with the thickner in her bottles and just doesn't want to work at it.

7 months

a

Our little angels will be seven months old tomorrow. My first week back to work went okay. I did come home Monday with a very bad headache from all the stress of getting back to work. I am trying to just take one day at a time and slowly get back into the work mode. My mind was on the girls alot and a few phone calls were made home daily to see how things were going. I did panic when I found out that every offender I supervise knows about the girls. The type of offenders I supervise do not need to know about my personal life so I was a little disappointed that someone told the offenders about the girls. We had Grandma Bitler, Aunt Kim and cousin Eli here for the weekend and I think the girls had enough paparazzi in their home. We had alot of fun dressing the girls up and taking some pictures. Tiny K was here on Tuesday and gave us the okay to start giving Rylee a few milliters from a bottle if she is awake and alert. She hasn't seemed too interested when I have offerred her the bottle, but her day nurse has gotten her to take a few milliters with no problems. We are very lucky to have such great nurses working with Rylee. She now has three permanant nurses that all do a great job with her. We were patient with the agency and we feel very comfortable with the care Rylee is receiving. She is starting to grab at her toys alot more and thanks to cousin Eli we have alot more toys in the house. Jordan is doing good with no thickner in her bottle and has been sleeping through the night for the past few weeks. On her belly of coarse! Since the day Jordan rolled over by herself we haven't been able to keep her on her back. She even likes to be on her belly during playtime. The girls both have appointments with the pediatrician on Thursday and I am going to leave it up to daddy and the nurse to take them. I think Rylee will get her six month shots so glad I will miss this appointment.

Back to work

I have been very blessed to have almost seven months off from my job to be with my babies. I am really feeling very lucky to work with such a great group of people. I am very nervous about tomorrow and I will hopefully be able to keep my emotions in control. I never thought I would want to be a stay at home mommy, but now I am having second thoughts about that. We have discussed it, but Troy's health insurance through the school is too expensive and we think it is best that I go back to work. The girls are going to be in very good hands with our day nurse and Troy. We also found a nanny to come watch Jordan once Troy goes back to school. I am very relieved that she was referred from one of our very good nurses. We have had a very relaxing weekend with the girls and they are starting to really notice each other. You can really tell by the pictures that they love to look at each other and smile. Jordan is really starting to grab her rattles and toys and even steals them from Rylee. Rylee is noticing the rattles, but isn't grabbing them quite yet. We had a bit of scare with her g-tube today. Troy went to hook her feeding up and noticed the g-tube was about to fall out. The sac that holds the g-tube in tightly popped and we had to get a whole new g-tube. I surprised myself and stayed calm and we had not troubles getting it back in.

Jordan rolling over

I missed Jordan's first time rolling over and was very disappointed. I was at the hair salon getting my hair done when this big milestone occurred. She did show off when I got home a few times so it made me very proud. I hope I don't miss too many more milestones with the girls while I am working. Daddy thinks I brag too much on the girls already and they are not even doing much yet. I think he is worried that I am going to be one of those mommy's who thinks their kids do no wrong. I am just so proud of how far these two little angels have come in their short little life.

Enjoying my last week at home

I am getting really anxious about going back to work next week and it is going to be here before I know it. We had a busy day yesterday with Jordan. We took her by my office to say hello and then she had an appointment at the Children's spot to discuss her prilosec, thickner, and her apnea monitor. We did get verbally reprimanded for still having her asleep on her belly. I just don't think the doctors understand our need for sleep. She was doing pretty good and then we brought Rylee home and gave up. We are going to start working on it again this week. We will have to get her crib off of an elavation and she will have to be out of her tucker sling that keeps her from falling to the other end of the crib. We got the okay to try her with no thickner in her bottles and so far she is doing really good. This will be one less thing we have to worry about with her. She weighed in at 12 lb 9 oz. She has been eating much better and is eating 4 oz at at time. After this appointment we met Jordan's primary nurse and Rylee's primary nurse for lunch and it was so good to see them. We really miss seeing the nurses that took such good care of our girls. Thanks Erin and Amy for meeting up with us. Sorry we didn't get to bring Rylee with us this time. We then went up to the Saint Luke's NICU to see our favorite doctor and it was so good to be able to thank him again for saving Rylee's life on New Year's Day. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about this doctor and what he did for Rylee. I truly believe that this doctor, all the prayers and Rylee's will to fight got her through that awful day. He spent hours working with her to get her body back to functioning as it should. He always tells Troy and I that we are heros and I always tell him he is my hero. We had Tiny K infants and toddlers here today with the physical therapist and she had no concerns with the girls at this time. It was very good to hear they are doing a good job. We need to work on more tummy time with Rylee and Jordan is trying to master rolling over. We have a new nurse that started tonight and I absolutly love her. She also brought good news that she has a friend that is interested in being Jordan's nanny for us when Troy goes back to work. I can't wait for Troy to get home from playing tennis so I can tell him the good news. This was the one thing I had him in charge of so I am sure he will be glad to not have to search for a nanny.

Jordan's first swim, diaper pics and last eye exam

We are very glad that they girls had their last eye exam today at Children's Mercy. The girls were very upset after their exams and we were so glad to hear we no longer need to go through this again. We even heard Rylee cry through her trach because she was crying so hard. Jordan about threw herself out of her carseat before I buckled her in. It was quite the rodeo in the room after this. We had the Tiny K (infant and toddlers) at our house today and we are going to start dipping Rylee's pacifier in some pickle juice or lemon juice before her tube feeding so she will produce more saliva. This will make her start swalling and then we can tell if she can handle the fluid. This is just a start to getting her back on the bottles. Troy took Jordan swimming the other day for a few minutes and she loved it. I am going to have to get a small pool that Rylee can get into so she can try out her swimming suit too. I posted the picture of the diapers to show the different sizes the girls have worn. I also posted the picture of Jordan and Troy when she was just a few days old wearing the smallest diaper. The next picture she was just a little bit over a month old and she is wearing the next size of preemie diapers. It is amazing that they even make diapers this small. I had to post the picture of Jordan watching Baby einstein with daddy because it is so cute to watch her get so into it.
