We have had a pretty relaxing week so far. The Tiny K (infants and toddlers) staff was out today and they will be doing assessments on the girls due to their developmental delays. They will be getting speech, occupational, physical, and many more therapies if needed. Rylee has an appointment with the pediatrician tomorrow morning and I am really not wanting to go. We know she is doing good and it is such a hassle to get loaded up and wait at the doctor's office for a quick check. Our last two visits have taken us about two hours to get in and out. At least we don't have to drive clear to Children's Mercy which takes us an hour to get there. As most everyone knows I have been blessed to be off work since the girls were born on 12/20/08. I am going to be going back to work on 7/13/09 and I am very nervous about leaving my baby girls. They will be left in very good hands with daddy and the day nurse, but I am still very sad that I have to go back to work. I would like to send a quick thank you to all the department of corrections staff that have made this work for me and my family. We are very grateful that I was able to take this much time off. We are still looking for someone to come watch Jordan once daddy goes back to work in August. Rylee will be able to stay here with the nurse until her trach and g-tube are removed.

  1. Oh Kari,
I just get teared up thinking about you going back to work! Could enough time have possibly passed? I guess so. When i see the pictures of the girls, I'm amazed at the miracles that they are. You have done a superb job, and will continue to make the best choices for your family. It isn't easy, but keep the big picture in mind and don't feel guilty about your decision. It WILL get easier over time. I actually appreciate the fact that my boys are now in daycare, as they learn so much every day from interacting with other kids. That said, I cried and agonized over my decision each time. We have to make the most of our situations and focus on the positives. Meanwhile, give those girls some love and kisses from me. I wish I could myself :( Love you!

  2. Hey Troy and Kari! I love reading updates on your little angels. You had said awhile ago that the formula for the girls was really expensive. You may look on www.diapers.com to see if they carry the formula. I know they are cheaper with there diapers than Wal-Mart and Target. I am not sure what the shipping and handling is though. Just something to check into. Also, if you need any clothes, swings, exersaucers or any other baby needs, let me know. I have tons of stuff.

  3. I can't believe how much the girls are smiling now!!! They look like they are doing great! Kevin said he wants to call and visit, but wants to know what time is not a feeding/cares time. He though about 8PM and I said NO WAY!!! So what works for you guys?

Sorry you have to go back to work, but just remember, that just means the girls are doing so much better and have accomplished so much! Keep up the good work!
